Welcome to our blog!!!

Greetings fellow readers!

What inspired my love for children's books was the "message" and/or "lesson" that one learned from reading the story. Along with the numerous smiles and giggles, I loved the knowledge gained that benefitted young minds. To celebrate these endless, great books our weekly blog will be an overview of one of these books. Our recommendation to you. One book - every week! How great is that?! Even better - the book(s) we give an overview about is in our inventory! We provide you an overview of the book along with some of our comments on what we like about the story. If you like what you read - go to our online store and buy it! Don't worry if someone buys it before you do. Some books we have extra copies; if not, let us know and we can be on the lookout for another copy. As a second option, if you like one book there are always recommendations for similar books.

So...as promised...here's our FIRST book!

The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein

This book may be my personal favorite. Saying that is HUGE since I have a lot of favorites! Simply written, the message is one that stays with us for a lifetime. Such small gestures define ones character and answers the question "Why"?

"Once there was a tree...and she loved a little boy."

So begins a story of unforgettable perception, beautifully written and illustrated by the gifted and versatile Shel Silverstein. This moving parable for all ages offers a touching interpretation of the gift of giving and a serene acceptance of another's capacity to love in return.

Every day the boy would come to the tree to eat her apples, swing from her branches, or slide down her trunk...and the tree was happy. But as the boy grew older he began to want more from the tree, and the tree gave and gave and gave. This is a tender story, touched with sadness, aglow with consolation.
